Bacharach Draftrite Guage. Correct draft is essential for efficient burner operation. The draft determines the rate at which combustion gases pass through the furnace, and it governs the amount fo air supplied for combustion. Excessive draft can increase the stack temperature and reduce the amount of CO2 in the flue gases. Insufficient draft may cause pressure in the combustion chamber, resulting in smoke and odor around the furnace.
Overfire draft (draft checked at hole in burner inspection door): at least -0.02 in. water column. Flue draft: Most residential oil burners require a flue draft of -0.04 to -0.06 in. water column |
